Professional Experience
Currently, I am learning more about myself every day through my job. Three years ago, I started a Technology Program at Brookville Center for Children's Services. Since this was a new class within our school, I was able to learn so much through the planning of this curriculum. I spend my days educating students of all ages with learning disabilities how to appropriately and functionally use technology. Some of the topics I am currently teaching are typing, research skills, texting, emailing, video production and editing, beginners robotics, computer programming and coding and more. With the help of some of my students, I also created the school's first Video Yearbook and have been producing one every year. In addition to teaching, I also serve as the school's Technology Specialist.
Three years ago, I worked in the Elwood School District teaching 9th graders the importance of their educational achievements and extra-curricular involvement during their high school career. I also was able to guide my students through the use of a program called Achieve 3000. This web-based resource evaluates the reading comprehension and writing proficiency of students based on their own unique academic profile. I was able to monitor student progress through this program and watch as they were academically challenged at their own level of understanding.
In my previous job as an Educational Systems Coordinator for Brookville Center for Children's Services, I worked with many different forms of people, software and hardware. I deployed of over 500 iPads and used different programs such as SnagIt, Camtasia and other tools in order to create a video tutorial on an application called Apple Configurator. When it comes to technology, I am always eager to learn more.
